RIP SWIRL BLURRY / PERFECTLY BLUE / EMO REGULATION VIA PUBLIC POSSESSION / IN REAL LIFE MUSIC "RIP Swirl is making dreamy soundtracks for his listeners' lives." --- DAZED "Wistful, nostalgic indie electronica" --- Resident Advisor Rising multi-instrumentalist and producer RIP Swirl latest release is the collaboration EP "Emo Regulation with Copenhagen Singer Ydegirl, via In Real Life / Public Possession. The EP, (as well as Perfectly Blue from 2024) finds RIP Swirl, the alias of Luka Seifert, amplifying the signature sound he established on his acclaimed 2022 debut album, Blurry, which The Fader described as "a whirring shoegaze revival record" before that style became trendy." The sonic palette marries Luka's work as a producer, DJ in Berlin's club scene with his lifelong relationship with the guitar and his analog approach to recording. The result is a canvas of moody soundscapes derived from fragments of shoegaze, trip-hop, and nostalgic atmospheres that conjure notions of teen angst and nighttime drives in the suburbs. Similar to his process with Blurry, Perfectly Blue was a solo, flowy endeavor with every instrument, production and mixing done in Luka's home studio in Berlin. This time he outsourced the mastering to Beau Thomas (Aphex Twin, Burial). RIP Swirl's music has found fans among everyone from Gen Z alt-kids to techno purists, and he has since become a close collaborator and producer to several rising vocalists including Mother Soki, Maria Somerville, Tanuchikan, Maresz, Ydegirl and Ariana Manmoon of untitled (halo). Luka continues to work fully out of his home studio in Berlin, immersed in his playground of musical instruments and creating endlessly with no agenda.
